I have started using a fitness/nutrition tracker on my phone (and on my computer). Boy, is this ever a handy thing! There are many different programs available and many are free. The one that I have been using with success is called My Fitness Pal ( Others that I suggessted to Bootcamp participants include LiveStrong and SparkPeople.

My Fitness Pal allows me to track my weight, food intake, water intake, and workouts. It produces handy charts that show the percentage breakdown of fat, carbs, and protein.

If you haven't been using a tool or a food journal, these tools just might be the thing you need. Give it try!

Here's an interesting recipe for baked parsnip chips ...

Parsnip Chips

Minutes to Prepare: 5

Minutes to Cook: 45

Number of Servings: 1


These amounts are per serving:

1/4 cup parsnip "chips" (thinly sliced)

1/4 tsp extra virgin olive oil

1/4 tsp lemon pepper (such as Trader Joe's Lemon Pepper or McCormick California Style Lemon Pepper with Garlic & Onion)


Toss parsnips with oil and lemon pepper. Place in single layer on baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees until lightly browned and crisp (watch closely; they may take anywhere from 15-45 minutes, depending on the amount, the thickness of the slices and your oven).
